There are home cholesterol tests available at the pharmacies, but you only get Total Cholesterol, not the breakdown of the LDL and HDL (bad and good) cholesterol, which is really important info. Here's a website w/more info on home tests. (I just googled "home cholesterol tests")

I had a blood test to check my cholestrol levels last week and have just had a call from the doctors receptionist saying that the doctor would like to take some more bloods as the levels were a little high. Do I have anything to worry about and what causes my cholesterol level to rise?

I had my cholesterol checked recently and it was 199-total cholesterol. The HDL waas 62 and the LDL was 124. I am a 53 years-female and the results said that my level is in the target range. Does target mean that it is in the good range or that it is boarderline?

my cholesterol is 167 the doctor suggests putting me on meds but I really don t want to go that route. She said to really stick to a diet and exercise and get checked in another 3 months. I am 48 years old, good weight and otherwise very healthy. What do you suggest?
