How To Bring Down The Blood Sugar Levels?

I am type 2 and 73 on Metformin...today after eating a bagle with cheese I had a very weak and shakey feeling and my blood sugar count was 228 and it was about 2 hrs after eating...that is much higher than is normal for me...I know the bagle was too high in carbs and I normally control carbs and sugar...this just was an out of normal experience for me...is there anything I can do other than drink water to bring it down...

Healthy blood glucose (or blood sugar) control includes steps like following a balanced meal plan, engaging in an active lifestyle with sufficient physical activity, and taking blood glucose-lowering medications as you need them over the years. You might also need other medications to control your blood pressure and lipids (cholesterol). Consider some additional lifestyle tips that can also help control blood sugar and improve overall health.
Please keep monitoring of your blood sugar and make sure you have to avoid hypoglycemic attacks and when you go outside, always take candy with you and wear a bracelet indicating that you are diabetic patient as we always have to be on safe side and safety of patient is our top priority.
I think, this would help and I also advice you to check your feet and annual screening exams of eyes and kidneys.
