How To Avoid Nose Bleed Who Has Been Diagnosed With Pneumonia?

My husband has COPD and last week had a heart ablation after 7 days in hospital with pneumonia. He is on cumaden and has anose bleed that has lasted 1 1/2 hr..Tried head forward, pinched nostril etc. Can t use his oxygen because of it. What should we try next?

Thanks for your question on HCM.
Coumadin is an oral anticoagulant and it is vitamin K antagonist. Since your husband is on coumadin and having nasal bleed, I advice you to immediately consult doctor as he needs vitamin K injection.
He also needs nasal packing done by ENT specialist.
He needs hemostatic agents like tranexemic acid.
All these can be done in hospital only. So better to take him to the hospital and start vitamin K injection.
