How To Avoid A Stroke?

My mother and I live in Turkey. She had a stroke yesterday and I called the emergency took her to a private hospital and is in ICU. She is 77 year young white female. Has high blood pressure and Diabetes. Right now she is able to talk, but some words will not come out. She has a left side of the brain clot. She can move her legs. Her right arm is weak. Doctors says she will probably get of ICU and go to a regular room in the hospital. She recognizes me. Doctors also say it may occur again. Which I'm hoping not. What is your suggestion or idea?

Dear Madam
Thanks for your query.
I would concur with your doctor's opinion. In fact any one can have stroke. Life time risk of having stroke is /~16%. It increases with certain risk factors like smoking, diabetes, high choleterol, high blood pressure, aging and stress.
Hope she does not have it again. Best way out is to control her BP and diabetes well and take medicines prescribed by your doctor.
Sincerely
Sukhvinder
