How Soon Will Orsythia Start To Prevent Pregnancy?
Hey, I just started to take birth control pills Orsythia. I started on Monday, it wasn't my period or anything. I just want to start as soon as possible to prevent pregnancy. So I know I need to have second back up plan when I first took the pills. how long after I take those pills that starts to prevent pregnancy?
If you start the pill in the middle of a cycle, you should used a backup method of birth control for the first 10 days to 2 weeks, or until you get your period, whichever comes first.
Your period may be delayed from the pills in the first month, but as long as you are taking the active pills and you do not have more than 7 days in between packs (or on placebo pills), you will be protected against pregnancy.
I hope I was able to answer your question today and that this information was helpful.
Best wishes,
Dr. Brown
