How Soon Can Gonorrhea Be Detected After Exposure?

hi there, I am a gay man from Australia. I was recently told by a sex partner that he had tested positive for gonorrhoea. An anal swab showed that he had it in there. We have engaged in anal sex where I have been the top and have always used protection. There have been time during foreplay where I have rubbed against his anus, to the point where I have inserted my penis in him for some brief moments. My last contact with him was around 10 days before I went and got tested. I was swabbed and a urine samples taken. The swabs were analysed at the clinic and were clear. Ive had no symptoms. Would it be possible that I had a false-negative result? was I tested too soon after exposure?

Hi! I have gone through your question and I understand your concern.

I would say that according to the window period( the time that we cannot detect bacteria in urine ) is 2-7 days from the exsposure , its a chance of false negative result..
After 7 days we should detect gonorrhea but the possibility is not high , to be 100 % sure of the test, should be done in 2-3 weeks after exsposion.

Also it's a high chance (50 %) to have a clamydia infection with gonorhea.
I would suggest to repeat the test for gonorrhea and clamydia.after 2 weeks from the last test , to be sure .

Hope these help
Wish you good health.
