hello Doctor i have been going through a lot of pimples on my back thighs and butts. i have been prescribed to take azithral 500 mg and vizilac tab and ointment crixan during day and retino a microphoric gel . I have been taking this medication for a week now . Wanted to take a 2nd opinion from you
Hello, Thanks for the query. You might have developed folliculitis. Folliculitis is a bacterial infections. Treatment is with antibiotics but the choice of antibiotics should be based on culture and sensitivity tests. Azithral is also an antibiotic but how much effective it is for you must be tested. Please meet a dermatologist and request to do culture and sensitivity test on pus obtained from the lesion for exact diagnosis. Once the exact bacteria is known, specific treatment can be given. Improper use of antibiotic can lead to resistance.
