How Should A Swollen Occipital Neck Lymph Node Be Treated?
Please write your question hereAbout 5 yrs ago I went to the doctor because of a stiff neck and a painfull lump. She did. a cat scan and said it was a swollen occipital lymph npde and prescribed me an antibiotic and a muscle relaxer. The stiff neck went away but the hard lymph node and its tenderness never has. At times it bothers me to wash pr brush my hair and it gets worse if it is touched. Within the past 6 months I ve noticed it feels larger and my neck has a swollen ridge across the back of it. My husband accidentally massaged that area and I woke up in extreme pain with it protruding. I ve iced and used a heating pad and took naproxen .It still hurts but isn t sticking out. I havent had any weight loss but have a low grade fever. I don t have a lot of $ to keep begging doctors to fix this. What should I do?
hello, thanks for query, Occital lymphnode could be due to any scalp infection or seborrhea( dandruff) or eczema. rubbing the skin of that lymph node obviously cause causes pain and tenderness. you can go for fine needle aspiration cytology of that lymph node for the exact diagnosis. evaluate with Dermatalogist/ ent surgeon for farther evaluation and treatment. hope ihaveansweredyiur query. all the best. take care.
