How Should A Deep Cut Wound Be Treated?

I cut myself on a piece of metal. It s a 1cm long cut and has a pocket to it. It didn t bleed very much, but it did cut deep enough to get to the white fat layer. I tried to rinse it with water and then bandaged it with sterile bandaged. But i wasn t able to get the water in the pocket part. It doesn t hurt now and it didn t hurt an hour ago when it happened.

Hi,

You should urgently receive Tetanus vaccine. Rest if the wound is kept clean it would heal in a few days. Cleanse the wound with saline. Wrap a loose bandage around it. Watch the wound for any pus discharge and then you should see your doctor for further management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman,
