How serious is a blood infection ?

I know someone who had a blood infection and apparently it went to his heart. He was in the hospital and he is only 19. I don't really know him, hes a friend of a friend. How serious is it? Could this be fatal?

This is probably fatal. Since you have infected blood, the infection is always flowing through you, and it gets to everywhere in your body. Every part of your body will suffer, and probably be overpowered by the infection.

My wife has been taking extensive antibiotics within the last year in order to treat two serious blood infections. One month ago she developed c-dif and has been taking oral vancomycin and is due to finish in two days. Her stools have been softer but not diarrhea lately. However today she deficated 5-6times but not diarrhea. Could this be a side effect of the vancomycin or a possible return of the c-dif infection? Please advise txt. Thank you

My daughter recently developed Sepsis after a huge amount of after-birth was left inside her. She nearly died. She is still on blood pressure medication. She keeps getting cramping in her legs. Is this related? She also has a VSD hole in her heart, could sepsis have affected her heart? She had to have a blood transfusion but her blood count is still very low!

Spent seven days in hospital receiving iv antibiotics (zithrimycin, ceflex and another) for sepsis and pneumonia from aspirated bacterial enteritis. Released six days ago and had. Had been feeling better each day, but tonight not so good. Have EXTREMELY sore stiff neck that wasn t helped by lortab, headache and muscle aches. Suspected origin site of sepsis was small surgical incision on my face (removal of growth that was a cyst), and it is inflamed and crusty. Should I be concerned tonight?
