my son is 17 months old and starting yesterday he has had a fever in between 100.1-100.9. i have been giving him tylenol and it will go down but as soon as it wears off it goes back up again. he has no other symptoms and it was the same way today. so its been for 2 days now. he has been sleeping alot more and just isnt acting like himself. i know its not a high fever but im concerned.
Hello 17 months old and fever not so high , so this fever may be due to flu or cold or sore throat ( as this is most common cause of fever in children). Tylenol is paractemol and 10 mg /kg body weight is the drug of choice for fever in children . For short term ( 5 -6 days ) there are no any side effects. When such patient visit my clinic I advise my patient to get in blood for malaria . Cold sponging , tylenol with levofloxacin 10 mg / kg body weight / day is the drug of choice . But if fever persists more than 5- days , please consult a paediatrician and get his opinion. Good luck.
