Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been taking Tricor for about two years along with Crestor. I decided to try taking myself off of Tricor because the last time that I visited my cardiologist, he mentioned to me that they might be taking me off if I continued to keep a good blood level. Is this ok or was I suppose to ween off of the drug?
Thanks for the question, Tricor or fenofibrate is a drug you can actually just discontinue without tapering or gradually weaning; if your cardiologist wants you off it, it probably means that your triglycerides are under significantly better control. Between Tricor and Crestor, Crestor gives you a lot more benefits.
Hope this helps wish you the best,
