How Safe Is Taking Imodium AD ?

I had a gastric bypass about 2 years ago and have taken a store brand of anti diarrheal tablets on an empty stomach before a meal with no problems. Lately I bought a store brand like Imodium AD in gel tabs the same way but experience some minor cramping in my stomach. Is this normal or should I switch back to the store brand tablets?

Welcome to HCM.
This combination medication is used to treat diarrhea and symptoms of gas (e.g., cramps, bloating, pressure). Loperamide works by slowing down the movement of the gut. This decreases the number of bowel movements and makes the stool less watery. Simethicone helps break up gas bubbles in the gut.
If you are not comfortable with this medicine then you can switch over to suitable medicine.
You should consult your doctor before starting or switch over the medicines.
Otherwise take more liquid and simple diet.
Lactic acid bacillus will be helpful.
