How Safe Is High Dose Of Vitamin D For Being Insulin Resistant?

I have a problem. My doctor says I have insulin resistance (endo), and he prescribed a high dose vitamin d. After four days I get pain, pain all over, and it gets worse. He said its not the vitamin d. So I gave it another trial and within 4 days all over pain, bad, worsening my controlled fibro. I went off of it again. Then I tried it again, same thing. I went to the doc to get medication changed and he got mad at me saying it s not the vitamin d. I looked up vitamin d and I got some information that it can cause you to retain calcium more? I have noticed that my calcium blood tests test in the highest normal range, one time it tested high. Anyway, the doc got mad at me and said he can t help me because I insist I know the trials of vitamin d cause me pain and he knows that it doesn t. I don t know WHY it causes me pain, but I had to stop. My levels of vitamin d didn t test too low (34) to begin with, but he said that people with insulin resistance should be taking high doses of vitamin d. So, I don t know what to do about it now. Any suggestions?

I am Dr Mittal
I have read your query
And will try to help you

First, I disagree with your doctor.
Anything that is causing stress to you, can be a fact.
I also disagree that high dose vit D is needed.

I have a different suggestion if you need to go with vitamin D
You can take low dose Vitamin D- usually 1000 instead of 60000/1 Lac.
These are usually available in combination with calcium
So make sure your other calcium tablets are off

As for calcium levels, if you are on them, the levels may be high.
so dont worry about that.
most docs give vit D with calcium, so i am assuming that your dr would have prescribed them too

in favor of your doctor, the bodyache due to vitamin D is indeed infrequent.
So I think you should also try to find out if you have another cause of pain.
Try the low dose vitamin d, to be taken daily.
likely you will be comfortable on them.
You can continue them for 6 weeks and then try the vit D test again

also
suggest KFT (including uric acid), sugars, lipid profile, HbA1C- if not tested recently

Best of luck
