Hi,
There might be mild burning urination because of the fact that he had an indwelling catheter for some time, but this should not be a problem and will disappear with time usually.
Veltam is a reasonably good rug in that it will help your father avoid retention of urine, especially if it has been combined with Dutasteride. Importantly, your father might be feeling he is voiding urine well, but the correct estimate of how well he is voiding is to get a test called Uroflowmetry done, followed by an estimate of post-void residue in bladder. If the flow is poor or if the residue is very high,he could still benefit from endoscopic prostate surgery which is, under normal circumstances, a very simple procedure.
