Sir, My baby is just 9 months old, just 2 days back she had little temperature, but with few mintues, she got convergenes. we some how managed to reach the doctor.

Now doctor says normally convergenes last only for 4 mins but in her case it lasted for 20 mins-25 mins,

now we have done a EEG test, awaiting for the report.

Now she is been given anti converges dose (epsolin injections).

How do u look into it. Could it effect my child in furture or so.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to Hcm,
Febrile seizures can be simple type which is normal and lasts for a short duration and can happen with fever in children from 6 mth to 5 yrs but in some children it can be complex type which can last longer. Any fever triggered seizures or convulsions in a child less than one year should be evaluated properly. So in your child's case couple of things concerns me - age and duration. So if I were your pediatrician, I would get eeg which was rightly done here and also do blood tests to look for any severe infection. In such case complete treatment with antibiotics will be needed. But let me assure, what ever the cause is, its completely treatable. Hope I answered your query. Wish your child a great health. Take care.
