How Often Is Colonoscopy Advisable?
I am 67 yrs old. I was diagnosed with Primary Billary Chrosis 15 years ago. I take ursodiol 900 mg per day. I had a colonoscopy 5 yrs ago. Nothing has changed with my daily living or symptoms. My doctor wants me to have another colonoscopy this year. With no changes, how often should I have a colonoscopy. I know Medicare only pays for the test every 10 years

Patients with primary bekiary cirrhosis are at increased risk of certain malignancies and need surveillance.
Your doctor is right, the latest recommendations are that any patients diagnosed with PBC should have a screening colonoscopy on diagnosis then every five years. So you should do it as advised by your doctor.
