How Obesity Can Affect Pregnancy ?

Is my weight going to cause major problems, if i get pregnant? Hello Doctor . I am 26yr old, with height 5 1 and weight 63kg. I and my hubby had unprotected sex a week back, which comes under my ovulation time. I am waiting for my next period on 18th this month, to confirm if i am pregnant or not. We were thinking of planning for a kid soon. But, I am worried if i am pregnant how much my weight would be a problem. Can i do workouts at home? i have got huge belly, hips n waist line. so can i do excercise for those areas even when m pregnant? I had consulted a gynac 4 months back for my irregular periods. since then my period is up to mark. Doctor had given me rubella vaccination as i had informed her tht i would start planning for a kid in another 6months. Doctor had adviced me to reduce weight. but i took it lightly and kept it for last minute.. n today i am very worried. :( Kindly guide me. Thank you.

Hello,
welcome to healthcare magic,
I would have to agree with your doctor here.Getting pregnant would not be the issue here.Im sure you will get pregnant. However, weight loss takes a lot of time .The reason you need to lose weight is because at term you may have delivery problems.Apart from that its not good for your health at all to be overweight due to innumerable health problems. And i'm sure you dont want these problems to crop up during your pregnancy. If you find out that you are not pregnant this time, then i would suggest holding the plan back for 6 months during which diet and a rigorous exercise regimen should take precedence.Once you conceive you activities will have to be controlled. You can do exercises at home or the gym but under supervision of a professional.Choose however you want you do it.

Thank you doctor. I will follow all the instructions this time. and would definitely hold the plan and reduce weight if not pregnant this time.
I wanted to ask about 1 more thing. forgot to say that at the time we had sex [during my ovulation] , my partner was just recovering from food poisoning n cold. he was under a lot of anti-biotic's. will this reduce the chances of me getting pregnant?
i also have sleeping problem. i dont get sleep b4 2am. so its usually late when i get to bed. and wake up early around 7.30am. will all this sum up into any problem?

Your partners antibiotics dont have any bearing on your pregnancy chances. Its not related. As for your sleeping habits, apart you getting tired, there shouldnt be any problem.
