How much it will take to show the symptoms of STDs after sex ?

How long after contact with someone with genital herpes will you get the initial painful blisters and swollen glandsI believe that the worst is the first outbreakDoes this mean I have been infected in the last few monthssix months ago or 10 years ago After noticing bumps, swelling and urination was painful,my glands were swollen and even my throat was sore .I had a blood and swab test done by the Gynea,it was positive for Herpes.Iv been in relationship for 4 months now,I sent him for blod test which were negative. Before him I have had intercourse but used a condom,In the past I have had small tears in my vagina straight after sex..which I presumed were from friction, and have had itchyness occasionally..but have never needed treatment. I would like to know when do you think I caught herpes for it to only cause such major symptoms now?
