Hi. I am taking rainbow light once a day prenatal with 800 mcg of folic acid, i went to an ob yesterday and she prescribed me with another 5000 mcg of folic acid to take along with my current. Is there an overdosage of folic acid? Am 7 weeks pregnant at the moment. Thank you

Hello
Thanks for writing to us with health concern.
There should be maximum 5 mg per day intake of folic acid.
So you can just take the folic acid prescribed by your doctor.
As such, there is no ' overdose ' of folic acid, it is a relatively safe drug.
All the best
