How much does the female pattern baldness treatment cost and how long does the process take ?

Hi there! I am a female and my age is 20 years. I lost noticeable hair around my partition line 2-3 years back and the hairs are not growing there much. I have changed partition lines from left to right and vice-versa but my hairs grow only a little thick. And yes, the other partition line becomes broad (hairs get thinner there). Today I was just searching the net for hair loss for females and I came across a lady who had baldness just like me. Is there a treatment for such a hair loss and what would be its approx. cost and duration? I didn t had any medication till now and I fear of losing more hairs. I am very tensed!

welcome To HealthcareMagic forum,

There are various causes of hair loss in females and each has its own pattern also.By your description it seems to be a ludwigs pattern of hair loss (female pattern ) which is also called female androgenetic alopecia. In this females tend to loose hair from the central crown of the scalp ,but sparing the frontal hair line.
In such cases usually there is history of imbalance of periods, acne (pimples),weight gain & facial hair growth.
To confirm imbalance in hormones one can get a hormonal profile done with a ultrasound of lower abdomen.
One has little treatment left in such cases like minoxidil solution, oral hormonal medicines etc.
Ciproteron acetate medicines has shown good result in such cases ,but unfortunately the higher dose of this (50-100mg) is not available in India. We have a lower dose of same available in India. These are low dose OCPs which needs to be taken for long and the result may not be permanent .
The only permanent treatment in such cases is hair transplantation .I've been doing this for last 12 years with good result
I would advice you to consult a good dermatologist and start a treatment. If your medical treatment fails you can plan for hair transplantation ,but at this moment you are too young for it.

Hi Doctor , I m 29 year male. I m suffering from male pattern baldness since 3 years. Now i lost most of my hairs in my frontal area. When i consulted dermatologist , he suggested to take following medicines. 1. Mintop Forte Foam 5% (Tropical solution ; Apply 2 times a day : morning after bath / night before bedtime ) 2. Halox - Apply it after 10 mins of Minoxidil/Minitop solution (Only for first 10 days) 3. Finax (Finasteride) 1mg - Daily night 1 tablet 4. Adgain - Daily night 1 tablet I m bit hesitant to take Minoxidil / Finasteride because of the following reasons - Have to continue this medicine life long - Many people reported that stopping these medicines after sometime will cause very drastic hair loss than what we had - Finasteride might have side-effects on sexual hormones. Would like to know how effective would be the Minoxidil / Finasteride for regrowing the hair? How long do we have to proceed with this medicine ? What are the possible side-effects ? Is there any other better alternative for treating male pattern baldness. I m completely stuck and lost all my confidence because of my hair loss. Your response would be really helpful to me. Many Thanks.

Hi Doctor, this is James aged 30 years. I have undergone Hair transplantation on 29th Aug 2013. I have baldness in the front and on the crown part. After transplantation, i started using Mintop forte as recommended by my Doctor who has done the transplantation. He gave Finax 1mg for one month.

Question is,

1. How long does it take to see the complete results of hair transplantation?

2. How long should i continue to use the Mintop Forte oil. (I am using 5% solution twice a day).

3. Any diet recommended for good hair growth.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

James.

My nephew, 8years old had an internal injury on his right kidney. Doctors did a surgery on his tummy to remove the blood from inside. after 2 weeks the kid started complaining on pain in the tummy. after an ultra sound examination, doctors found that haematoma around the right kidney had increased & there was free fluid around the haematoma and in the pelvis.

- Is there any reason to remove the kidney?

- What treatment should he be given?
