How long will it take it lower my cholesterol ?

I am a 25 year old male, 150 lbs dripping wet. My cholesterol is 270mg/l, probably due to antidepressants. My doc says that now that I m off the meds, I ought to try and lower my cholesterol. I ve changed my diet (more fibre) and have begun exercising more. Any idea how long it might take?

My wife is a Clinical Lab Scientist and she checks my cholesterol regularly. My cholesterol was 230mg and I lowered it to 180mg in a month and a half. All I did was walked an hour a day, took omega 3 and dieted.
