How Long Will Bronchospasm Last?

So I went to the ER Saturday night for tightness in my chest and shortness of breath . While I was there they took a chest xray and told me I have bronchospasm. They didn t take any blood or anything else. They sent me home with steroids and an inhaler. I am a smoker.I decided to quit... My question is how long will this bronchospasm last?~ When should I start feeling better?~

Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Smokers are prone to develop bronchospasm.
And common reason for this is acute bronchitis. Usually with treatment, it takes almost 1-2 weeks to cure bronchospasm.
Smoking cessation should be the priority to fasten the recovery and prevention of further bronchospasm.
After this episode subsides, get done PFT (Pulmonary Function Test) to know about your lung function and any abnormality.
If your PFT is normal than only smoking cessation is required.
So wait for 1-2 weeks to resolve this bronchospasm.
Hope I have solved your query.
Wish you good health. Thanks.
