How Long Will A Bleeding Persist After An Abortion?

Hi. I had a surgical under general anesthetic abortion a week ago and had the marina coil fitted. I'm bleeding dark blood and brown and some days it gets heavier. I still experience cramps too is this all normal? How long do I bleed for? I also have 2 children so the coil was fitted easier

Hello dear
Understand your concern
Mild bleeding and spotting will continue maximum up to 7 days after surgical abortion. Brown bleeding suggests stale blood. Cramp occurs as uterus come back to its natural position and due to mild contraction. But for safer side you have to go for USG scan to exclude the retain product of abortion as it should be removed and it causes heavy bleeding and cramps.
But in your case bleeding may be due to marina coil. So I advice you to consult the gynecologist and rule out the retain product and side effects of marina.
Hope this may help you
Best regards
Dr. Sagar
