Hi my father was recently with diagnosed with cirrhosis. He s recently been discharged from the hospital and one of the medicines he is currently taking is lactulose or laxitose ( same thing I believe?) Hes not sure how long hes going to have to take it. Im sure it depends, but if you could give me an idea that would be great. I do know it helps with encephalopathy and regulates amonia in the body. He was in a very altered mental state for at least 4 days in the hospital, hes better now but Im assuming its going to be a while on the med if not long term. Any information you can provide would be much appreciated. .
