How Long Should Arimidex Be Taken For The Treatment Of Breast Cancer?

Thank you. I was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer in 2005. I had a lumpectomy, followed by radiation. Lymph nodes were clear. I took Arimidex for five years and completed the course in 2010. I recently met with my internist, who said that recent test results show that the protocol for Arimidex is now 10 years instead, given longer term studies. Do I need to start Arimidex again or is the previous treatment considered to be adequate, given my circumstances? My annual mammograms have been normal. My e-mail address is YYYY@YYYY .

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear. Welcome to Healthcaremagic. I read your query and I understand your concern. I think it is not needed to take any medication now since you have more than 10 years cancer free and you finished tge treatment 8years ago . There is no reason to take it .
Take care.
Hope my answer was helpful, if you have any other questions I'll be glad to help you. Best regards. Dr.Olgeta Xhufka ( general and family physician )
