A family member of mine had a stroke. A blockage of some sort in her brain. She is 58 years old. Lost the ability to move her arm during the stroke. She is able to walk, go to the bathroom on her own, speak well, comprehend well. She is acting like it is no big deal and not a serious thing. She has been in the hospital 5 days now. Her blood pressure is very high and they are trying to get that under control. She never had high blood pressure before. Now they are doing a TEE test on her. Will she be able to be on her own at home after having a stroke?????
so it just has to be one number. My friends dad had high blood pressure of 203/87. The bottom number is normal but the top number is high. He was in the Dr s with 212/82 and they did not call 911. He went to the ER and had a mini stroke. He is in the hospital now. How can someone have a mini stroke with the low number normal. I was told the top number is not dangerous by itself. Both numbers have to be high. I have had 213/79 before and I didn t have a stroke. I am 34 but he is 86. Does age have a factor. He wants to leave the hospital. What would happen if he tried to leave. My friend is worried that he will try to leave without being released. I know when I tried to leave the hospital once they subdued me with a mild tranquilzer.
I have had a high pitched noise in my head for 4 days.Saw my renal Doctor last week,and my BP was low so he told me to stop the Losartan,and the noise started shortly after that.He said my kidney function tests were getting worse.I have had 2 strokes(one in 94 and the other in 2004),so I m concerned about another.I can t describe what I m feeling very well due to the strokes.It s not a ringing or swishing.At first I was calling it a headache .My BP is usually 120/70, but it was 88/? at the Dr. s office and 140/88 yesterday when I told my wife. Today it was 170/88,so I took a Losartan and am feeling better.I am also Diabetic oral and Byetta controlled.I had had a large turkey meal and some wine before that Dr. Visit.What was the noise?The BP?
Dear colleaggues, I'm Ingrid Hilman, MD, 58 years. had my stenting on 17 Feb, 3 stents in LAD and RCA.
Since 2 weeks ago, I develop severe headaches, esp during the iningt or when I wake up in the morning and also palpitation (heart rate > 90). I feel weak during palpitation. I do not have hypertension (my BP is between 90-110 and 70-80). I do not have obesity, smoking habits, my lab is pretty good only LDL 100.
Is this because of the herbresser that I take 3 times a day?
Other drug that I take;
- Aspirin 1 x 100 mg
- Plavix 1 x 75 mg
- Lipitor 1 x 10 mg.
Appreciate your inputs on my above complaints. Thank you very much

I am a 25 yr old female that has recently lost 70 pounds and suffers from pcos. I am off all the bp medicines I was taking, and have been on a gluten free diet since 4/21/11 b/c I am allergic to wheat. I have been getting dizzy, lightheaded, and have a fast heart rate and low blood pressure when standing or sitting up. my heart rate is usually in the 60 -70 range when resting, and it's been in the high 90 - 100 range while resting. The dizziness started Sunday 6/19/11 all of a sudden, and I have kept track of my BP and symptoms since Sunday. I get this intense pressure in my head, and the get dizzy, and my heart will race when I start to feel yucky, I have trouble breathing, when my heart rate is up this high for no apparent reason. My BP will be 93/62 and HR 101 standing, or it can be 114/65 and HR 80 a few minutes later.. but if I go from lying down to sitting, it will be elevated, then it elevates when I stand, if I lay down everything is fine.. the pressure in my head goes away, the dizzyness goes away, and the HR goes back to normal... I have a shunt in place for hydrocephalus, my first shunt was placed at the age of two weeks, and first revision was done 4/5/2010. I want to know what is causing this fluctuation in BP and the dizziness, and fast HR...thanks
