Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I suffered a "patella fracture" exactly 4 weeks ago. Since it didnt appear to be displaced according to the ortho doc, we decided to put a full length knee brace and complete bed rest. The brace was only removed for few minutes for a shower daily. Now am told that I can begin little walking gradlly, with support & weight on the walker. Excercise of raising the leg a bit to get muscle back in the thigh. Also to ge t a shorter knee brace and wear it only when walking.
Am advised that we will take Xray in 2 weeks (i.e. 6 weeks after my fall).
Was wondering typically how long does it take for healing and to be able to bend leg to sit in car and commence going to work. I am 40 yrs old.
It should heal in 4weeks time. , since it is over a joint al ways moves on walking, You have to listen to doctor who is ad vising you. In my opinion you can use a good knee cap. and start moving care fully.
