How Long Does Lactitol And Ispaghula Take To Treat Constipation?

how long lactitol and isphaghula can be used for relief of constipation.I am 73 years old.myweight is 72kgs.my height is 170cms.can i take this medicine continuously for years with out any adverse affects,for releif of constipation.16 years back i sustained neck injury with c4 c5 sublaxation&quadrperisis,but I recovered physically fit except littlt spasm of the lumbar and lower legs muscles.
