Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Long Does It Take To Recover From Hip Replacement?
Please tell me the qualities of James Keeney, MD - primarily hip replacement success. His success and failures if any. Does he have a good rep in the orthopaedic field? What about redoing a hip replacement that may have gone wrong and patient in same pain after surgery? What about the fact the patient takes Nardil (Phenolzine) 6 15mg a day - any complications there? What is his recovering time for hip replacement? What if both hips are painful and in a bone on bone situation? Can they be done at same time? What kind of pain medication is used after? Thank you for your help. Judith
The usual time for recovery-both in hemi arthoplasty Or Total hip replacement(THR) in my unit is 10-15 days after the operaion is done.We make the patient walk with support even before the sutures are removed.Patients usually resume their activities of daily living (ADL) in 2-3 wks. time. They have to avoid uneven ground & danger areas to walk.Post operative life is usually pain less.Patients usually need medicines for other associated diseases. Bilateral THR Can be undertaken in the same session, if strongly indicated. I do not know James keeney at all,so I can't comment about him.
