Thanks for using Healthcaremagic. Your son may be suffering from either absence seizures or complex partial seizures which can be controlled with medications. One has to find out what is the cause of seizures. Once we know the cause and type of seizures we can tell how many years he has to take this medicines. So meet neurologist and undergo the tests and start him on treatment. Bye

Take him to a neurologist and he should be started on antiepileptic medications and the dosage of the same adjusted to suit him. once that is done and he is free from any seizure episode for 3-5 years the doctor will get an EEG done and let you know regarding the changes in dosage or stoppage of drugs.
And what your son seems to have is complex partial seizures and not absence seizures
