How Long Does It Take For Steroid Treatment To Swollen Eyes Due To Graves Disease?
Hi I am a 26 year old female. Diagnosted with hyperthyroidism 8 years ago. Two years ago I was diagnosed with graves disease. and TED. Had radioactive iodone therapy twice..Worked somewhat but blood levels still show no difference. Just had my first dose of steroid tratment for my swollen eyes. How long does this take to work? Is someone supposed to be monitoring my treatment? And why are my eyes shaking when I close them. Please help me.
Usually Thyroid Associated Ophthalmopathy (TAO) responds to steroids within 2-3 days of starting steroids. Your treatment should be monitored both before starting treatment and during treatment, depending upon what kind of steroid you are taking or how long you are going to take it and your risk of developing complications from steroid therapy.
Shakiness of eyes during closure can be result of the thyrotoxicosis. Its just like hand tremors. Your eyelids are having tremors when you try to close your eyes.
Hope my answer helps....
