How Long Does It Take For Loose Motions To Subside Post Taking Imodium?

I have lactose intolerance. For the past 12 days, I have had watery diarrhea. I recently started taking immodium multi symptom. I noticed my stools are pure water and are the color green. After one full dose of immodium, it has not gone away. How long will it take for my symptoms to subside?

Welcome to HCM.

Watery diarrhea with greenish stools since 12 days should be further evaluaetd even if you have problem of lactose intolerance.

Greenish stools can also occur in various conditions like excess unprocessed bile (which is to be digested by certain enzymes)or iron supplements,or iron rich diet,celiac disease or Protozoa infestation etc

It is good that you have taken immodium (loperamide) and you got relief from watery motions.However,I would advise you to continue it for 3 to 4 days more.

Also,eliminate the diet containing lactose products like milk ice cream, and cheese, bread and baked goods, cereals, salad dressings, candies, and snacks,whey, curds, milk by-products, dry milk solids, and nonfat dry milk also contain lactose.

But go for some routine blood works,ESR,stool examination and ultrasound abdomen if you have abdominal pain or discomfort.

So,better you consult your GP or some local doctor and rule out above causes.
