How Long Does It Take For A Toddler To Recover From Stomach Infection?
Hi, myself and both of my children have had a stomach virus(assumption). My self and my son(33mo) are recovering well, but my daughter(15mo) still has foamy yellowish diarrhea after 4days. She had been asking for milk and we have been giving it to her. Could that the culprit? How long is too long for her to have diarrhea? She doesn t like the rehydration solution, but stopped vomiting after a day and has been drinking plenty of fluids. Also, no fever. Thanks
See, primarily the mainstem treatment of diarrhoea or loose stools in a child less than 2years is basically oral rehydration solution, continuing breastfeeding if any, give home available fluids, giving zinc supplement etc. If there is associated fever, it should be treated with painkiller. Now, you are treating your child as above and it is now the 4th day. It might take another 2-3 days to become totally fit again. Persistent diarrhea is said to be there if it stays for 14 days. So don't worry.
Hope this was useful. Regards.
