How Long Does Effect Of Diamox Last In Body?
Hi, I am going to Peru and will be in high altitude areas. I have been told to take Diamox prior to going up and each day until I reach the highest point then stop. However after this first journey we will come back down to normal elevations for a few days and then go on another trip with high altitudes. Will the Diamox in my system from the first journey allow me to do the 2nd trip without retaking Diamox?

Acetazolamide ( DIAMOX ) is the drug of choice . It is given in the dose of 250 mg orally 8 hourly , the day before , during and for 5 days after the ascent.
Mind it lower doses may not be effective .
