How Long Does Coughing Last After Drinking Water Down The Wrong Tube?

While trying to take a sip of water, some water ended up "going down the wrong tube". I read about dry drowning before and am worried. How long does coughing last after drinking water down the wrong tube? I feel the need to clear my throat constantly and want to cough and it's already about an hour later.

Hello

There is no definite time and it cannot be predicted because it depends on your lung condition and how much of water went down the 'wrong pipe" , however generally it should disappear/subside within an hour, and itf it is not, you should get yourself examined as there is a chance that you may develop a chest/lung infection.
Thanks
