How Long Does Common Cold Take To Get Cured?

I wthat point?oke up today with what appears to be a cold. Next Tuesday I m travelling east to visit my 88 year old brother and I don t want to carry any infection back with me. Is 5 days enough time for me to get over the cold and am I still contagious at

"As" per your clinical history is concerned a common cold usually takes 1-2 weeks for complete recovery so you can take preventive steps like this in future -

1)Try to wash your hands. Clean your hands thoroughly.

2)Keep kitchen and bathroom countertops clean, especially when someone in your family has a common cold.

3)Always sneeze and cough into tissues. Discard used tissues right away, and then wash your hands carefully.

4)Don't share drinking glasses or utensils with other family members. Use your own glass or disposable cups when you or someone else is sick.

5)Try to avoid close, prolonged contact with anyone who has a cold.
