Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your edit is obvious that the lesion is infected. You have to start antibiotic. Start a short course of antibiotics like Ampiclox or Amoxicillin/Clavulanate for five days. Apply topical antibiotics like Mupirocin after cleaning with soap and water. Generally it will heal with in four to five days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

I am 15 weeks pregnant with number 3. When i was 32 weeks pregnant with my second i hit some serious road bumps that caused me to land funny on my tailbone. It hurt so bad i thought i was going into labour. I ended up coming down with pilonidal cysts shortly after that. I have only had it get infected twice and caused it to drain myself. After pregnancy i was using tea tree oil on tailbone area and it kept flare ups at bay. Now that i am pregnant again my doctor suggested not using tea tree anymore. I currently have a flare up happening and am scared it will get infected. Is there anything i can do besides just taking epsom salt baths?

I injured my tailbone 7 months ago and still have a hard time sitting and the pain is constant. Not always debilitating but always there like a bad headache. I have had pt for months with ultrasound and a steroid shot but still in pain. Is time the only thing to heal this?
