How Long Does An Average Cold Last And What Are The Symptoms?

my 8 yr old has had a stuffy nose for 2 days, woke up this morning with a slight fever & is now complaining of a sore throat. Do you think this is just an average cold? Or should he see a doctor? He's not lethargic or achey, sitting up & playing video games right now.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hello. Thank you for your question. The fact that he seems well, despite his symptoms, is a good sign. The one symptom that stands out, however, is the sore throat. Though most of the time they are caused by viruses and resolve in their own, sometimes they are caused by bacteria and require antibiotic. I recommend consulting with your doctor so the correct diagnosis can be made and the appropriate treatment plan implemented.
