How Long Does Tetanus Vaccination Stay Active In The System?

I accidentally cut my knuckles with a rusty piece of fencing wire. The skin around the incision is pink and a little bit tingling but earlier today it was more purplish and covered a wider area and also stung quite noticeably. I was unaware I was even cut in the first place until a friend notices blood running down my fingers and wrist so I would say that I have a high enough pain tolerance for this not to be a small or irrelevant matter. I get similar cuts often from sometimes not noticing for (relatively) extended periods of time like until i next wash my hands or overnight. This further suggest that this is not some trivial sensation by my standards at least and would need your input before i do something or rather don t do something about this. I am fairly certain I have had a tetanus shot within the last year or two but am wondering if that doesn t more matter.

Hi. You're covered for tetanus and for now you can put an antibiotic ointment like neosporin on the area three times a day

If there starts to be a widening area of redness around the cuts or the area starts draining pus you should see a doctor for a course of antibiotics
