How Long Does HPV Virus Stay In The System?

Hi, So i contracted HPV in the form of Genital Warts about a year ago and it has since cleared up due to home remedies. My question is- is it still possible for my partner to contract the virus or warts through unprotected or oral sex even if i no longer have the warts?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It might require 1 or 2 years for the HPV virus to be still active. If you are clinically cleared, and tested negative, then, no problems in going through protected sex for the incoming year.

If still no signs and will test negative the incoming year (total 2 years), then, there is no concern in contracting your partner through unprotected or oral sex.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
