How Long After Rabies Injection Can I Consume Alcohol?

Hello Doctor, I currently in Laos visiting my parents and one of their dogs bit my leg. It s very minor but broke skin...slight puncture wound. The dogs get their annual rabies shot but as a precaution I got rabies shot this morning. The shot was to the arm , two in the left arm and one in the right. I m thinking because the dogs are vaccinated annually that I may not got back for the other two scheduled visits. The puncture is basically healed without any inflamation. Here s my question, may I drink alcohol? If so, how long after my injection may I consume alcohol?

There is no direct interaction between alcohol and rabies vaccination,hence alcohol consumption is not harmful while receiving rabies vaccination.

Rabies vaccine provides immunity against rabies infection.Chronic alcohol intake decreases immunity hence better if you avoid it or take it in small quantity till the completion of vaccination.

Rabies vaccination must be completed though the dog is immunized.

Following vaccines are available for rabies:
Human Diploid Cell Vaccine (HDCV) -Imovax® Rabies,
Purified Chick Embryo Cell Vaccine (PCEC) - RabAvert®,
Human Rabies Immune Globulin - Imogam® Rabies-HT or HyperRab TM.

None of these vaccines mention alcohol as contraindication for rabies vaccination.
