How Long I Need To Continue My Thyroid Medicine And What Effect Will It Have On My Unborn Baby ?
hello doctor .. I am 28 yrs old & pregnant by 5 months. Before pregnency, my thyroid was detected & it came in my pregnency report as well. Currently my Gyani has given me a thyroid medicine.. Thyronorm 25mg. I have been told to continue this medicine even after delivery. I wanted to know, for how long I need to continue my thyroid medication & is their any need for some tests or something after delivery. Will it affect my un-born baby in any case?
Hello
Thanks for your query.
continue thyronorm as long as your post delivery thyroid profile comes to normal.Deficiency of thyroid hormones is more harmful ,So don`t stop till delivery under any condition .It is also good for your baby.Repeat thyroid test at regular interval.
