How Is Herpes Diagnosed?

Years ago my ob/gyn told me I had herpes without doing any kind of tests. He never gave me any medicine or suggested I take anything for it. Is is possible to just look at someone and tell they have herpes? I have never had any outbreaks since he told me I had the disease.

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms if you never had any outbreak or any other symptoms and even if you have not undergone any investigations done then giving a confirmatory diagnosis as Herpes is not appropriate and in case if there is any suspection about Herpes certain blood investigations like antigen antibody reaction, polymerase chain reaction and viral culture can be done.

And once you get the reports then only a confirmation can be done and treatment can be planned..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
