How Is Ovidac Used In A Pregnancy?

Hi, my wife was preganent and doctor is saying after scanning that yolk sac is larger than it should be and hence there can be chance of miscarriage. She told to take Ovidac 5000 injection every week for 3 weeks. My wife got her last menstrual on Feb9th and on scanning doctor told baby is 5 weeks old and were able to find heart beat today this week itself. Can you tell me what is the purpose of Ovidac for preganent women

OBGYN, Maternal and Fetal Medicine 's  Response
Hello,

Cardiac activity is visible in the fetus by six weeks of gestation. The larger yolk sac is indicative of either chromosomal anomalies in the fetus or impending abortion. Ovidac is beta-hCG injection which is given to support the pregnancy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Deepti Verma
