How Far A Botox Injection Helps In Reducing Migraine?

Hi I am 54 yeas old and all my life I suffered from migraine. In the earlier years I was getting migraine few day before my period and it would last abut one week with excruciating pain followed with vomiting. I have tried every possible medication available and nothing worked, only ergotamine has worked in some occasions. wright now I do not have period and I am in menopause, but my migraine is still there, not as often as before and not in the same intensity. I have noticed that combination of triggers would bring migraine like depravation of sleep, cold temperature, stress, hunger, intense physical activity, strong smell and dehydration. The only thing that is missing is hormonal factor since I do not have a menstrual period for the last two years. Can you please let me know what to do to finally get rid off migraines. I was considering Botox injection but found to expensive, since there is not guaranty it will help. Kind regards, Nella Nella

There is epidemiological data that explains your symptoms. Although "menopause" is classically believed to "cure" migraines in affected women....unfortunately, we know that this is not the case in many women and in fact, there is plenty of evidence that suggests women with migraines have a high incidence of recrudescence after the age of 70 of their migraines. In other words, migraines can and do return after the menopause period. You should consult a headache specialist. BOTOX injections are quite effective in our clinic, however you are correct that they do not always work nor is there any good way to predict who will gain the benefit and who won't until after at least several cycles have been completed. If you would like additional information, especially on the specific treatment protocol we have implemented in our clinic I would happy to discuss this with you after obtaining additional information about your particular situation. Please consider writing to me at: www.bit.ly/drdariushsaghafi and rate this as a 5 STAR encounter.
