Dear sir

Ramipril is an angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor group of drugs also called ACE inhibitors, which has so many beneficial effects other than controlling blood pressure. it is frequently used in patients with diabetes.

These drugs are not potent antihypertensive drugs, their blood pressure loweing capacity is very low when compared to calcium channel blockers like amlodepine or nefidipine. Even when compared to other group of drugs.

But certainly these are good antihypertensives. but the common side effects encountered with these drugs are dry cough.

Since you are not tolerating these drugs, I recommend you to switch over for calcium channel blockers like amlodepine or betablockers like metaprolol or nebivolol. please consult your physician regarding this.

Thanks
