How Does Switching From Norvasc And Diovan To Hyzaar Affect The Blood Pressure Levels?
Hello. I have been on BP meds for about 20 months. I was taking both norvasc 10. and diovan 320/25. The norvasc cause me to have a lot of heartburn and lower ext swelling. My MD DC the norvasc and I remain on the diovan until today I was switched to hyzaar. How will this change affect my bp? On 8/5 it was 109/85.

You said you were on Diovan 320/25, which I assume was a combination of valsartan and hydrochlorothiazide since it has the two numbers (320 and 25), which means Valsartan and hydrochlorothiazide.
Now you are on Hyzaar, which is another combination medication with losartan and hydrochlorothiazide. Hyzaar should work about the same as your previous medication Diovan.
The effect on your blood pressure will depend on the dose that is being used.
Since your blood pressure is a little on the low side (usually the goal is less than 130 or 140 for the top number, less than 90 for the bottom number), I would guess your doctor might use a lower dose of the new medication.
The only sure way of knowing how it will change your blood pressure is to check your blood pressure on the new medication, you should be able to see any change within the first couple of days.
