General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood the concerns.
Well, since you are a known patient of hiatus hernia, reflux and other stomach symptoms I would advise you the following and answer your questions as asked by you.
First of al I would like to tell you that Chiropractor may not be of help as hernia is one thing that needs surgical correction as needed and this is too internal for the Chiropractor to handle and mismanagement can cause you more problems.
Take an opinion of a Gastroenterologist and Surgical Specialist dealing with hiatus hernia and get evaluated by Upper GI Endoscopy, Barium studies, manometry so that whether surgery will help you not can be decided. If they feel so, get operated for a permanent relief after discussing in details the pron and cons
Till then have a PPI like Omeprazole, Domperidone or other motility regulator.
Small frequent meals of soft and bland diet.
Stop smoking, alcohol.
Control anxiety and stress well so that the symptoms are minimized.
Yes the stress causes changes in increase in acid production, motility problems and thus increase the symptoms.
I find this answer helpful
