How does PCOS, multiple rudimentary follicles and endometrial thickening affect fertility?

I just had a pelvic scan and was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. The report states that i have multiple(>12) rudimentary follicles measuring 5mm in average diameter on my ovaries. It also states that the endometrial plate is18mm thick. What do these mean and how might it affect my fertility?

Hi,

Not all polycystic ovaries will affect fertility. If it is associated with endocrine abnormalities and irregularities in periods then it might have impact on fertility which is curable. Polycystic ovaries are very common nowadays. Don stress yourself.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana Rajesh Babu, OB & GYN Specialist
